Applied Kinesiology

Applied Kinesiology (AK) is a system that evaluates structural, chemical, and mental aspects of health using manual muscle testing combined with other standard methods of diagnosis. Muscle testing is a functional neurological assessment. An A.K. doctor can evaluate the muscles of the body and gain some understanding of a patient's overall health both functionally and neurologically.

The triad of health lists the three basic causes of health problems. They are structural, chemical, and mental, with structure a the base of the triad. AK enables the doctor to evaluate the triad's functional balance and direct therapy toward the imbalanced side or sides.

Treatments may involve specific chiropractic adjustments, various myofascial therapies, cranial techniques, meridian and acupuncture skills, clinical nutrition, dietary management, evaluating environmental irritants and various reflex procedures.

Manual Therapy

Manual therapy has many different benefits for your health including improved circulation, improved muscle and joint function, increase in proprioceptive function (balance and neuromuscular response) and the rehabilitation and healing of the muscles and soft tissues of the body. At ACRC, manual therapy is a therapeutic experience specific to your case to help you heal and recover fast. Our Manual Therapists are specifically trained in techniques which allow them to work specific areas necessary to help you heal from your injury or to prevent further injury. They work on conditions ranging from sports injuries to pregnancy related muscle imbalances and everything in between.

Cold Laser

Cold laser therapy is a painless, non-invasive and safe alternative to surgery for many conditions. The therapy has been scientifically proven to treat muscle pain, arthritis, athletic injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, decreases local swelling, increases circulation and lymphatic flow, and helps accelerate the healing process. Consultation with our doctors will inform if you are an acceptable candidate for this therapy.

She will work with you, one on one, to eduate you and help you make the changes that may be needed for you to reach your health goal. Whether that goal is having a healthy baby, not feeling so tired all the time, training for a triathlon, or just reaching a healthy weight. What ever the need Dr. Glinsky can help.

Spinal Decompression Therapy

Each day, all of us lose approximately 20% of the fluid that fills our discs, through two sets of forces: gravity and muscular activity compressing the spine (i.e. sitting at desks for long periods of time). This means we all go to bed each night approximately 2 centimetres shorter - all because of disc dehydration!

Spinal decompression therapy is a computerized form of traction. This treatment is effective for both neck pain and low back pain caused by certain conditions. The machines or the tables can also bend and move in certain ways to address the injured area more specifically. Spinal Decompression is used for various conditions and can effectively relieve pain associated with disc herniation, degenerative discs, and posterior facet syndromes by reducing the pressure on spinal discs and facet joints through unloading created by distraction and positioning. The computerized traction also known as pulls are subtle and monitored by built in sensors at real time.

Spinal decompression has been shown to help with conditions like:

  • Disc Bulge or Protrusion – condition in which the outer layers of discs put pressure on the spinal nerves.
  • Disc Herniaion – condition in which inner part of the discs pierce through the outer layers and cause inflammation and pressure on the spinal nerves.
  • Sciatica – refers to pain going down the leg due to pressure on spinal nerves.
  • Stenosis – refers to pain usually down both legs or arms due to pressure on spinal cord.
  • Disc Degeneration with osetophytes – deterioration of disc and resulting in loss of disc height.
  • Facet Syndrome – condition in which the small joints of back of spinal bones are affected.

Pre-Natal & Pediatrics

Chiropractic is 100% safe and effective for children of all ages, as well as moms to be. Dr. Glinsky is trained in adjusting infants, toddlers, and pregnant women. Often as a woman progresses through the wonderful stages of pregnancy, her body changes shape and her pelvis also changes. Sometimes, these changes can result in low back pain or even "pregnancy induced sciatica". Chiropractic can help with this while still being completely safe for the baby. Chiropractic has also been proven to help with childhood conditions such as ear infections and enuresis (bedwetting). The adjustments are very gentle but highly effective. Dr. Beverly is an active member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association and the Oklahoma Birth Network.

Sports Medicine

Doctor Koch has a passion for sports. Because of this passion he has focused much of his training on diagnosing and treating a variety of sports injuries. Doctor Koch can screen an athlete and determine if there is a potential for an injury and thus help prevent it by providing a program individually tailored to your needs. He also prides himself on rehabilitating both new injuries and old injuries that may still be causing problems.

Sports Physicals

ACRC offers routine sports physicals for school and pre-injury screening sports physicals. The pre-injury sports screening is designed for athletes of any age to help determine if you are more prone to sport specific injuries. Some common sport specific injuries that can be prevented through proper screening and rehabilitation include: ACL tears, rotator cuff injuries, torn meniscus', elbow, wrist, or knee, tendonitis, and ankle sprains.

Golf Fitness

As a golf fitness instructor, Dr. Koch is trained to work in conjunction with a golf professional to perfect your personal golf game. The doctor works with the golf professional to create an individual swing that optimizes a player's power and accuracy. Dr. Koch is trained to identify and eliminate swing faults that can be detrimental to a player's game.

The program consists of multiple screening tests which help determine the specific parts of your body that are either at fault for your swing mistakes or are limiting your ability to generate maximum power. From these test results, Dr. Koch will generate a golf fitness program designed and personalized to address the specific limitations of the individual golfer. The program incorporates training and exercises targeting stability, strength, mobility, balance and coordination.

With completion of the program the player will often find it easier to correct swing faults while on the course. Off the course, the player will often see a decrease or elimination in the amount of pain after a round of golf. The program can also help prevent future injuries and extend a golfer's playing career.
